Greetings to all my name is Nomanesi Makhonco, and I live in khayelithsa a place that has mostly got informal dwellings, although I am one of the fortunate ones to live in a formal house, I do not feel as proud as one would expect me to be the reason is that there are still millions of people without proper houses, what pains me even more is the fact that millions of children live there also .Now on a lighter note I am currently at the UNIVERSITY OF THE WESTERN CAPE,I am doing my first year and I have chosen to study for a degree in Environmental and Water Science (EWS).What made me take this course is that I have always wanted to be an EVIRONMENTALIST ever since I was a child I have always felt the need to protect "MOTHER EARTH".One of the modules that I took was EVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY (ESS),I choose ESS because when I went through the course outline it was exactly as I would have preferred, It shows us how we as humans treat the environment and tries to come up with solutions on how we can combat the current crisis that we are facing as the world and that is CLIMATE CHANGE.Climate change affects everyone and anyone,my feeling towards this is that many people donot know about global warming or climate change , I feel I too need to educate my self so that I can educate others especially where I live.Like I said climate change affects everyone and anyone and that is why we need to work together to get things done sooner, because if we keep on leaving people in the dark about these things we will go nowhere, for example most people think that global warming is a myth and that it is something that is far away from them. And this what I want to change, people need to be educated about these things and I feel that I am Obligated to teach them.
